OB’s Pan Shovel show... aint no hipster bike show, where
half the bikes arrive on trailers. Nope OB’s Pan Shovel Show
is true blue old skool, where the age-old question of what
defines a biker is a moot point. Many of the attendees have
been riding as long as the term biker even existed. There
are more old bikes in the parking lot than there are in the
show, most are there just to meet up with old friends to tell
wild tales from their lives and all the crazy experiences they
have encountered on the road with their beloved machines.
Gray beards and wrinkled faces, the history runs deep in
flesh and machine. Theses guys and gals have lived their
lives in the time when the world was still real and freedom
was more than a PR slogan on an election campaign poster.
Having lived lives that can never be duplicated because the
biker world they lived in was the one they created. Living in
a time where it was all new and the nation was experienc-
ing freedom in ways that have never been seen before, that
will never be seen again. They invented it, the originals...
the first bikers. The wild parties, concerts, road trips, break
downs, and just plan crazy shit that had never been done
before. Bike rallies were not corporate sponsored events, no
they were just gatherings of the free spirited.
No matter how may times I here some of these tales of days
gone by, I can’t get enough. No matter how long I’ve been
riding or how gray my beard gets, I will always have a great
respect for those who came before, the trailblazers who cre-
ated the culture we all now enjoy.
