Custombike excellence “Made in Dubai”

That you can buy almost anything luxurious when visiting Dubai, is a well

known fact everybody knows from television – and obvious for everybody

who has visited the country. But as much as anywhere else in this world,

there is one thing money can’t buy: The talent to build cool custom motor-

cycles.

Which is one of the reasons that “Green Chicano” is quite unique: It is

neither imported nor assembled anywhere else in the world – it is almost

100% “Made in UAE”! Omar Al Tamimi of Lycan Customs has developed

his own style for several years – and now is making his mark with “Green

Chicano”. Not just for the desert state! The unique custom bike was de-

signed, prepared for – and assembled at the prestigious “Middle East Bik -

er Build Off” during Custom show Emirates 2015.

Omar and his team had a clear picture in mind when designing the bike:

Chicano Style custom bicycles, which are a popular part of the mexican-

californian custom culture for years, if not decades. First sketches and

calculations opted for two narrow rimmed 26-Inch wheels front and rear –

and a frame was ordered at Chassis Design Co. in the US. The order also

included the fitting radical custom fork, pivoting around the lower “triple-

tree” – or what you may call it. Then came the day that Omar saw a 30’’

wheel – the day that changed everything. All of the sudden, the wheel

order was changed to two massive spoked 30-inchers, but the frame was

already in the workshop, calling the team “back to the drawing board”...

26 to 30 Inch, adding another + 15% wheel diameter, does not not sound

too much, but in such a tightly planned custom bike project it is a lot. While

the engine and gearbox holding central loop remained as it was delivered,

the tail end was cut off, extended with completely new axle mounts, which

now had to be handcrafted to fit the desired style Omar had sketched. All

into harmonic proportions, the tail fender had to be reworked and adapted,

in fact the entire concept had to be reworked in all dimensions. Tough

work, even without the deadline of the upcoming BBO grinning from the

calendar! Finally, the 30“ RWW wheel fell into place, both technically and

in design. Not too late!

Meanwhile, Mario of “Chopper Kulture” cut deep into the heart of the en-

gine: With great care and the usual zeal for details, the “Shovelhead” was

taken completely apart, Dellkron lower cases with S&S Cylinders raised

the displacement to 1.530 cc. Andrews cam, modified S&S Super-E carb,

Morris Magneto to deliver the spark and a unique twisted pipe complete
