Well as the story goes out of all the car I built, this
one is my favorite, and here is how
The name Peppermint Twist came about. my
Cousin who was a Stewardess for Pan American
Airlines in the 60s at the time knew everyone in
New York City if you know what I mean .Being a
Stewardess she knew all the clubs in town, and
this was the hot spot, “Peppermint Lounge” on
45th St. In Ny.
Being surrounded by every celebrity I ended hav-
ing a Drink at the age of 16 and listening to this
group Joey Dee and the Starlighters singing what
went to be the #1 hit in the Land.
After building a lot of cars in my days from Customs
to Corvettes, I always wanted to do a 32 Ford. My
thoughts where to keep it as period correct as pos-
sible, and make it safe to drive, hence the 4 wheel
disc brakes..”.. No Radio, No AC, just the back in
the day Old SKool Look, then uncork the headers
when I wanted to and kick it in the ass.
Forget the leather bucket seats, I opted for the
Tuck and Roll interior and a set of simple Moon
Gauges, just to let me know how much fuel I had
left after driving her hard. Radio ..Nope, just the
sound of that 383 pushing 400 horses and holding
on to that 40s Ford steering wheel that I painted to
match the car, no billet wheel here, no heater on
this one, just a set of my dog tags from Vietnam
Nam hanging from my rear view mirror, to remind
me just how lucky I was to be behind the wheel
After making the right color Choice and adding the
Scallops, it just set the car off right
4 bar suspension out back, with a 9 inch Currie
Rear with adjustable Shocks,
Wilwood Disc Brakes on all 4s, ...Super Bell Drop
Axel up front and finned brakes, with a 4 link. The
side Nerf Bars fabricated by McMillan Hot Rods in
Stainless steel set the ride off for the period look.
After taking it to a few shows, people would com-
ment on how red the paint was, then someone
said it looks like Peppermint,
Well there you go, That what always
stuck in my mind, that fun time in my
youth at the Peppermint Lounge. So I
give you “Peppermint Twist”
