RenegadeMagazine.comWell it’s Thursday night with only one more day before Bike Week, and I’m slammed
with work. Which is a good thing, but it has left me with no time to work on either of
my bikes. My shovelhead needs headwork and my Ironhead project still has a lot of
fab work left to do! Of course I was hoping to get it all done before bike week, just
like on those old biker reality shows where Sr. comes out to yell at ya for not having
it done already!
Since the last article, I drilled some speed holes in the fender along the edges, and
I took out about 5 inches from the fender to shorten it up to where I liked it. I also
fabbed up a new battery box, since the first one I made was to big to fit the bike once
I get the chain on, Doh!
I also cut out the old gas cap bung to replace it with a new brass gas cap. And I made
a cool custom mushroom cap for my oil tank. Plus I have collected a majority of the
parts I need to fully mock the bike up. I haven’t completely decided how to make the
custom exhaust pipes yet, but I have decided to go with classic fishtail exhaust tips!
Even though I only have a day left, I still have hope I can get some work done on
both my bikes, to put at least the motor in the frame and get as much of it together
as I can so I can bring it out to my booth for Bike week, maybe I’ll get lucky and find
a high roller that just has to have it!
