when things need to be finished in the very last
second. With the sheet metal prepared to be paint-
ed, Schrammwerk added multiple layers of paint
and infinite layers of clear coat to reach the de-
sired effects. Every effort to please the Arab audi-
ence with a spectacular paintjob. But somebody’s
gotta tell the customizers some day that paint
needs time to dry!
A few days before the BBO, the engine also was
completely re-done, a new manifold created and
everything ready to be packed: For the shipment
by DHL, the motorcycle was only partially as-
sembled – rather a box of bits and pieces than a
halfway assembled bike hit the plane – and not all
components were shipped with the box. Security
and Customs had a field day with the BBO team
members when flying to UAE – image several
people with electronic components, nuts and bolts
and other stuff in their hand- and check-in lug-
gage. Fun time is assured – and we all know how it
works when Security-people with a 3-digit income
and 1-digit IQ need briefing on what this and that
is really used for!
At the BBO, Lycan Customs from Dubai were al-
ready waiting, having prepared a cool “Chicano”
Bobber featuring two (!!) 30“ wheels, a Pan/Shovel
motor and lots of gold plated parts. Both teams
liked each other from the start of the build – and

one or the other screw that was missing. On the
third day of the Middle East Biker Build Off, the
Dubai boys already polished up the gold-plating of
their motorcycle, while “Engels Schmiede” worked
in a frenzy ‘til the very last second – literally! Only
when the signal “Gentlemen, start your engines”
was given, they dropped the tools, Team elec-
tric specialist Jojo probably the most excited, still
crimping tool and soldering iron at bay: He was
wondering if the sophisticated electronic system
now would live up to the expectations...
To his and the team relieve, this turned out to be
the case and both bikes fired-up from the first push
to the button, roaring the Harley-sound all over the
Exhibition hall.
“Unique Thirty” was controllable from the touch-
pad tablet, just as planned! While both bikes were
ridden to the stage, four independend Jurors from
Germany and United Arab Emirates counted the
votes which – to one third each from Bikeshow
competitors, visitors and Industry-related judges –
would deterime the winner. Acting “Chief Judge”
and bike show organizer Frank Sander had the
honour to announce the result on stage and it
was sensational: Team “Engels Schmiede” was
to become the first European “Middle East BBO
Champion”! The team celebrated together with Ly -
can Customs, because in the short and busy three
