Its’ a good day… burnin’ up the road headed to the

trippy little town of Lowell, way down by the Mexican

border, located about 20 miles south of the infamous

town of Tombstone Arizona, famous for its classic

western shootout at the OK Coral. If you have a pas-

sion for old cars and vintage motorcycles and yearn

for simpler times, then this is the town you have

been dreaming of!

Lowell is actually a tiny part of Bisbee, Arizona and

it is one of the coolest places I’ve ever been! From

a photographer’s point of view, the scenery is just

amazing... Cruising the main street of Lowell is like

stepping back in time. There are antique cars and

trucks parked up and down both sides of the street,

all in various states of repair from rusty relics to

pristine vintage chariots set against the rustic back-

ground of this old western town and perched on the

edge of a huge pit that was a copper mine.

Lowell is a photographer’s paradise! It is said to be

one of the most photographed streets in America.

The streetscape is almost surreal; consisting of vari-

ous storefronts with a retro 50’s vibe. Most of these

businesses are not operational. They are merely

facades set up to look like they may have back in

the good old days; including both a Harley-Davidson

and an Indian motorcycle dealership with rare an-

tique motorcycles set up in the windows. I found

myself wanting to go inside... Reaching for the door

knob only to find it locked, feeling a little disappoint-

ed when I realized it was just window-dressing. But

I was discouraged only for an instant; because then,

as if by a magnet, my attention was drawn back to

my amazing surroundings! The few open business-

es on the street included a motorcycle repair shop

that’s filled with antique signs and various other vin-
